The 73-year-old real estate agent Chen Song qing has a special liking for Badi and is keen to use this cultural totem to create pieces of art with Nanyang characteristics.
For 30 years, he has been obsessed with batik art creation, turning seemingly insignificant utensils in life into a source of inspiration, and creating pieces of art that contain local elements. In addition to carrying forward the characteristics of Nanyang, we also hope to freeze the historical memory and pass it on.
73-year-old Chen Song qing is a real estate agent. Instead of concentrating on his career, he has a soft spot for Batik, a cultural totem. "Art creation doesn't make a lot of money, and investing a lot of capital may not necessarily pay off, but I just have a stubbornness. Doing what I love often makes me forget to sleep and eat."
His acquaintance with Chen Songqing stemmed from an HDB flat accident, and his neighbors talked about the regrets. When I asked, I found out that he was planning to re-enter the world and rushed to complete the work within two months.
"In 2023, the Year of the Rabbit will usher in, and the Zodiac Insulated Cup will be dominated by traditional ink paintings, surrounded by gorgeous Badi color circles, and accompanied by an English itinerary, so that tourists can fully understand the meaning of the Chinese zodiac."
Chen Songqing admires the "craftsman spirit", loves to carve every work carefully, and strives for perfection and excellence. In addition to thermos cups, the Badi series also includes hanging paintings, handkerchiefs and wine jugs, including water bottles with various local coffee names, and the illustrations are mostly colored by local painters.
Chen Songqing will store his works in souvenir shops and exhibitions, and plans to put them in the souvenir sales area of the hotel in the future.
"It's not easy to break out of the world, and the three-year epidemic has led to dismal business in all walks of life, especially young artists. Cooperation is always twice the result with half the effort, and it also contributes to the progress of the art industry. ”
